When it comes to wedding styles, the team at Glengariff Historic Estate has probably seen it all – but as the year’s progressed we believe we’ve uncovered the top 2 wedding theme trends of 2020.
No matter what your perfect day entails, our estate provides the perfect setting for any theme. This year we’ve seen more couples steer towards rustic or classical themes than other styles.
In this blog, we take a look at those two popular styles in more depth, and explain how we will work with you to bring your dream celebration to life.
2020 Wedding Trends
The two most popular themes we’re seeing at the moment are:
- Classic and Elegant
Rustic Brisbane Wedding at Glengariff Historic Estate
Rustic weddings typically aren’t as structured as other styles and often incorporate natural details such as wood, timber and greenery.
At Glengariff, it is a theme we do so well.
For wedding receptions, couples can pick decorative items which are included in our wedding packages, such as our large wood log bases with fairy lights, greenery and tealights.
We also have long rectangle tables which often work best with a rustic or country style celebration.
Our vineyard and barn, with its wooden wine barrels and large wooden doors, are just two of our locations which create the perfect setting to capture some rustic wedding pictures.
Classic Brisbane Wedding at Glengariff Historic Estate
Our grand homestead is also perfectly suited to host classic and elegant types of celebrations.
These celebrations often include a simple colour scheme, such as black and white, or just white on its own, and a sit-down reception.
At Glengariff, your classic wedding is a reality as soon as your drive through our wrought-iron gates and onto our property which exudes old-world charm and history.
Wedding ceremonies at Glengariff are held on The Terrace, which has uninterrupted mountain views, is located in front of our historic homestead and has beautiful stone arbours. We also include tiffany chairs and an ornate registry table and chair in every ceremony.
Our Estate Room, where wedding receptions are held, is a grand room which is chandelier lit and contains family antiques. Sit-down celebrations with our delicious alternate drop menu, tiffany chairs and round tables work best for these types of weddings.

Ways to Personalise Your Wedding Celebration
We believe the best way to personalise your wedding day is to include special touches in your decorations and throughout the celebration.
For example, a couple who loved travelling could:
- Have people sign a globe instead of an actual guest book
- Display travel photos on our flat screen tv as a prerecord video
- Use their travel pictures as table numbers in our frames
Another example would be to include your favourite colours in your wedding styling and bridal party attire.
