Winter is a superb season to say “I do” in Brisbane and its surrounding regions because you’re less likely to have rain on your wedding day and your guests won’t have to gather in sweltering 30-degree heat.

At Glengariff the days are typically sunny but not too hot, and when the temperature drops further in the evening our estate offers a romantic and cosy setting.

Getting Married at Glengariff During Winter

At Gelngariff, couples can choose from:

• Elopement/ceremony only, or
• Ceremony and reception for either morning/lunchtime weddings or afternoon/evening celebrations

Our intimate morning and lunchtime wedding receptions are held in our upstairs vintage room, which is just divine during the winter months because it’s warm, and has uninterrupted views overlooking the stunning mountains ranges.

Winter evenings at Glengariff Historic Estate are crisp but not uncomfortable, as we are at the bottom of the mountain. But for those who feel the cold we’ll ensure you’re warm and toasty, as we have reverse cycle air conditioning and heaters throughout the venue and on the terrace.

Afternoon and evening receptions are held in the Estate Room, which has warm colouring, a fireplace mantel with a heating element, heaters, sparkling chandeliers and twinkling tealights, all of which add to its magical and cosy atmosphere.

Winter Wedding Photos at Glengariff

Our gardens are beautiful all year round, and in winter couples tend to make the most of the incredible winter light at our property for their wedding photos.

Here are three of our favourite photo opportunities during Winter:

1. Our beautiful vibrant sunflowers add a pop of colour to pictures.
2. The Vineyard is dormant but looks amazing with its entangled bramble vines creating the perfect vintage photo shoot.
3. Our Vintage Room is a classical romantic setting for those final bridal photos, as it’s brimming with antiques and old-world charm.

Tips for a Winter Wedding at Glengariff

If the sun is shining, you’ll find the day-time temperature is perfect. But if your wedding is in the afternoon and evening guests should consider bringing a coat.

The bridal party is encouraged to have a warm item of clothing, such as velvet throws for the bridesmaids, as well.

Usually guests will keep their coats with them or place them at their table and chair. Our staff members can also look after coats behind the bar.
